5 Weeks

5 Weeks
We’ve been busy growing!  Grayson now weights 8 lbs 10 ozs!  Yay!  Our little man is putting on the weight and we are so thankful!  (He did not put on enough weight between his 2 week appointment and his month appointment).   So, our goal and focus has been making sure he is eating well.  I cannot tell you how happy it makes Chad and I that he is starting to gain.
We’ve been busy learning how to travel too.  Chad, Grayson, and I made our first trip up to Austin and my goodness; I was exhausted after our trip.  If the car stops, he is unhappy, and starts to cry…..   Grayson and I have learned that there is coffee shop in Wimberley, yippee!!  Grayson and I also took Birdie to the veterinarian this week to have her stitches taken out.  I must say, it really did feel like an accomplishment to take the baby and the dog into the vet!
Chad and I have started to learn that our simple errands are not quite so simple anymore and that we really have to plan!  Partly due to Grayson’s eating schedule which right now is still every 2 to 3 hours and partly due to the fact that Wimberley is not the easiest to get too!  We are getting the hang of it though.
Here are some pictures of the cutie!

We can’t believe it, but the little mister is already three weeks old!   Time has absolutely flown by and I have no idea of what we have done for the past three weeks!  All I know is that the Sills Family is so loved.  We have had visits from all of the Grandparents, the aunts, uncles, cousins, and Great Nanny and Poppop!  We have even had visits from friends and our wonderful neighbors!  All of the visitors have been so wonderful and such and amazing helps as Chad and I learn to be new parents!  Thank you for all of your love and support!

And Then There Was Three!

Words cannot describe how completely blessed we are!   Grayson Douglas Sills arrived into the world on February 20, 2012.  He was 21 ½” long and weighed 7.9 lbs and had a gorgeous head of hair!
Chad and I started our morning off pretty early arriving at the hospital a little after 6 am.  I was pretty excited when Paula our nurse walked in.   She was the same nurse / instructor that we had for all of our classes, so I felt completely comfortable with herJ.  I don’t remember which happened first, but I think that my water was broke and then we started inducing the labor.  For the first few hours everything was progressing really nicely.  I was able to walk around the Labor and Delivery part of the hospital in order to get the labor moving and in order to deal with the contractions.
After about 8 hours of being in labor, things stopped progressing.  Grayson was not handling the contractions well and his heart rate would fall after each one.   Our nurse Paula walked in and told us that there was a possibility that we would need a C-Section.  After about another hour of being in labor, Paula walked back in and told us that we needed a C-Section and that our Doctor was on her way over.  At this point in time in was about 3 P.M.  I was wheedled back to the operating room and about 10 minutes later, Chad was finally able to come back to the operating room too.  If you ask Chad, those 10 minutes was the longest of his life.
Grayson Douglas was born at 3:17 P.M.   He is a beautiful healthy little boy!
We were able to spend the rest of the afternoon as a family of Three!   We are so lucky and so blessed that we had family around to support and lift us up.  Grayson is so loved-already!
