Time Flies!!

So there has been so much going on since I last posted.  Sorry about the delay!

Since we last touched base with everybody, I started back to work at KONE, celebrated my First Mother’s Day, floated the Frio River with friends, bought a car, bought a cell phone, watched cousin Mark graduate from the Army Medic Unit, celebrated our First Father’s Day, headed down to the ranch, had family vacation down at the ranch, quit working at KONE, started my new full time job as Grayson’s Mommy, celebrated the wedding of Rick and Amy Shepherd, and celebrated the wedding of Shawn and Mindy Salyer (in Jamaica)!  That’s just the quick summary of it all….

Grayson has learned how to roll over from his back to his tummy and he does it all of the time! When he is playing he’s learned how to hold onto toys with both hands, but he doesn’t quite have full control of them.  He’s so close to figuring out how to get “binky” in his mouth on his own.  Hopefully that will mean more sleep for mommy and daddy.  He’s also started eating rice cereal and he is not the biggest fan.  It’s been about a month since we first introduced it and last night was the first time that he has eaten the entire bowl of it.

More Pictures?!

I love my daddy!

11 Weeks!!

We cannot believe it, but G Doug is already 11 weeks old!

Here is a little update on what we have been up too around here.

He’s cooing, smiling, and talking so much to us.  Those smiles absolutely melt your heart!   He’s even learned to facetime and loves talking that way too!

He loves playing this game where Chad and I give him his paci, and he pops it out of his mouth and just smiles!  I know- it’s a good thing that he is not the biggest paci fan.  He’ll still take if he is really really tired though.

He loves his jungle gym on the floor.  He’ll just stare at the stuffed animals and he’s got the movements down of moving his arms and knocking the little stuffed animals around.  This is also the place where tummy time takes place.  He is doing so well with this.

He LOVES his bath time!  Absolutely hates getting out of the bath though.

His best naps are still in the car.  He’s so resistant to taking naps around the house.  Good news for today is that he did take a 30 minute nap in his crib!  That is the first time that has happened.  I set up the monitor and pretty much just stared at him sleeping.

Grayson turned into a little party animal- sort of…  We have been celebrating a lot, the upcoming weddings of our friends Shawn and Mindy and Rick and Amy and celebrating Kristie and Joe’s new addition that will be here in about 4 weeks!  Grayson attended the showers that were held for these events and pretty much slept the entire time, but he has been to his first parties!

G Doug has also been taking Birdie and Zoe for walks.  I think the funniest walks are when Grayson is in his car seat which is hooked up to the stroller, Birdie is on her leash walking, and Zoe is laying down in the actual seat of the stroller.  It must be quite the site in the neighborhood.  I need to get a picture of this so you can see what I’m talking about- it’s so funny!

Grayson and I just got back from the doctor and he’s back on track with the weight gain- finally 10 lbs 13 ozs!  I must say that this weight gain thing has been quite stressful for Chad and I.

This week marks the end of my maternity leave.  Grayson is getting ready to go to day care starting on Monday.  We found a great place for our little guy and hopefully he will have fun and get loved on as much as he does here at the house.  I feel really comfortable where he is going to be going and they have the video cameras set up in the room so that I can watch.  Wish me luck; I’m really nervous about this!

5 Weeks

5 Weeks
We’ve been busy growing!  Grayson now weights 8 lbs 10 ozs!  Yay!  Our little man is putting on the weight and we are so thankful!  (He did not put on enough weight between his 2 week appointment and his month appointment).   So, our goal and focus has been making sure he is eating well.  I cannot tell you how happy it makes Chad and I that he is starting to gain.
We’ve been busy learning how to travel too.  Chad, Grayson, and I made our first trip up to Austin and my goodness; I was exhausted after our trip.  If the car stops, he is unhappy, and starts to cry…..   Grayson and I have learned that there is coffee shop in Wimberley, yippee!!  Grayson and I also took Birdie to the veterinarian this week to have her stitches taken out.  I must say, it really did feel like an accomplishment to take the baby and the dog into the vet!
Chad and I have started to learn that our simple errands are not quite so simple anymore and that we really have to plan!  Partly due to Grayson’s eating schedule which right now is still every 2 to 3 hours and partly due to the fact that Wimberley is not the easiest to get too!  We are getting the hang of it though.
Here are some pictures of the cutie!

Three Weeks?!

Poppop and Grayson
We can’t believe it, but the little mister is already three weeks old!   Time has absolutely flown by and I have no idea of what we have done for the past three weeks!  All I know is that the Sills Family is so loved.  We have had visits from all of the Grandparents, the aunts, uncles, cousins, and Great Nanny and Poppop!  We have even had visits from friends and our wonderful neighbors!  All of the visitors have been so wonderful and such and amazing helps as Chad and I learn to be new parents!  Thank you for all of your love and support!

And Then There Was Three!

Words cannot describe how completely blessed we are!   Grayson Douglas Sills arrived into the world on February 20, 2012.  He was 21 ½” long and weighed 7.9 lbs and had a gorgeous head of hair!
Chad and I started our morning off pretty early arriving at the hospital a little after 6 am.  I was pretty excited when Paula our nurse walked in.   She was the same nurse / instructor that we had for all of our classes, so I felt completely comfortable with herJ.  I don’t remember which happened first, but I think that my water was broke and then we started inducing the labor.  For the first few hours everything was progressing really nicely.  I was able to walk around the Labor and Delivery part of the hospital in order to get the labor moving and in order to deal with the contractions.
After about 8 hours of being in labor, things stopped progressing.  Grayson was not handling the contractions well and his heart rate would fall after each one.   Our nurse Paula walked in and told us that there was a possibility that we would need a C-Section.  After about another hour of being in labor, Paula walked back in and told us that we needed a C-Section and that our Doctor was on her way over.  At this point in time in was about 3 P.M.  I was wheedled back to the operating room and about 10 minutes later, Chad was finally able to come back to the operating room too.  If you ask Chad, those 10 minutes was the longest of his life.
Grayson Douglas was born at 3:17 P.M.   He is a beautiful healthy little boy!
We were able to spend the rest of the afternoon as a family of Three!   We are so lucky and so blessed that we had family around to support and lift us up.  Grayson is so loved-already!

It's Almost Time

Today is February 15th and Grayson’s Due Date is just around the corner!  I really cannot believe how fast the time has gone by and that Chad and I are about to be parents.
We had our weekly appointment this morning and we still have no news yet.  Our doctor did want us to go ahead and pick a day to induce, which she had talked to us about last week, so we knew it was coming.
If Grayson does not come in the next 3 days, we will finally get to meet him on Monday, February 20th!  We are so ready and so excited to meet the newest addition to the family!
While we are waiting, here are the rest of the belly pictures!

It's a Small World

My friend Katie sent me an email months ago regarding one of her friends that was interested in starting a photography business.  Her friend needed all sort of subjects to help fill up her website, engaged couples, newlyweds, families, newborns, and of course maternity couples.  The only bad thing, as you can see from the previous posts is that my belly was not that big and would not have made the best maternity pictures!!
Katie’s friend, Kelly and I emailed a few times back and forth and decided that we would wait until about the 30 to 33 week mark before we took any pictures.
As Chad and I were trying to find Kelly and emailing back and forth, her last name came across in her signature block in her email… Kelly Lavoie.  I had not seen her last name before, because usually she would just sign her emails as Kelly Jean.   I figured that Lavoie is not that common of a last name and I was right, Kelly is the sister of one of my sorority sisters!!
I just think it is amazing how small this world really is!  As you can see, Kelly did a fantastic job of capturing my belly and accentuating it!!  Chad and I had a great time taking pictures.  We were in a very eccentric part of Austin, South Congress.  It is so much fun on that street and when you think of “Keeping Austin Weird” this is the street that you think of!
I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we do!  Thanks Kelly!
